1 This delicious and healthy recipe is an easy favourite among Maharashtrians.
2 To make it, combine 2 cups of besan (gram flour) with ½ teaspoon of hing (asafoetida), 1, Teaspoon of cumin, 1, Tablespoon of oil, 1, Tablespoon of chopped coriander leaves, and salt to taste in a bowl.
3 Add 4-5 tablespoons of hot water gradually’ while stirring the ingredients to get a semi-thick dough texture.
4 Knead the dough until it is soft and pliable & roll it into balls of equal size. Flatten them into thin rotis on a hot tawa.
5 Cook each side for 6-7 minutes or until golden brown spots appear on both sides before serving.
Methi Thalipeeth with Sprouts and Peanuts:
1 For a delicious twist on traditional thalipeeth, try adding methi leaves, sprouts, and peanuts.
2 Start by preparing the dough in the same way as described above.
3 Once ready, Mix in half a cup of sprouted moth or moong beans and 2, Tablespoons of crushed peanuts.
4 Finally, add 1, Tablespoon of chopped methi (fenugreek) leaves and knead lightly to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
