Tandoori Fish Tikka Recipe. Impress your guests with the intensely flavourful tandoori fish tikka! A classic Indian” appetizer, it’s the perfect beginning to any meal.
Delight your guests with the rich, smoky flavour of tandoori fish tikka! A classic Indian” dish made in a traditional tandoor oven, this appetizer is sure to please. Learn how to make it here & start your meal off on a delicious note.
Prepare the Marinade:
1 To make your tandoori fish tikka marinade, combine 1/2 cup plain yoghurt, 3, Tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice, 2, Tablespoons of garlic paste or grated garlic, 2, Tablespoons of ginger paste or grated ginger, 1, Tablespoon garam masala and 1, Teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a bowl.
2 Mix the ingredients until they are well combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap & set aside for at least an hour so that the flavours can blend.
Start Marinating the Fish:
1 Now that you have prepared the Marinade, Place your fish fillet in a bowl & pour the marinade over it.
2 Mix well so that all sides of the fish are evenly coated with the marinade.
3 Cover the bowl and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour before cooking, ideally up to 12 hours.
Preheat the Tandoor Oven:
1 Once the fish is done marinating, it’s time to start cooking!
2 Preheat the tandoor oven to 400°F.
3 Insert the skewers with your fish into the hot oven & let them cook for 8-10 minutes until they turn golden and crisp.
4 Be sure to rotate them every couple of minutes so that all sides get evenly cooked.
Assemble Your Tikka Skewers:
1 To assemble your tikka skewers, take two pieces of cubed fish and thread them onto a skewer in an alternating pattern.
2 Then, brush any remaining marinade from the bowl onto the skewers, making sure each cube is thoroughly coated.
3 Repeat until all your Fish, has been divided into skewers – and you’re ready to start cooking!
Grill in the Tandoor Oven and Serve Hot:
1 Ideally, to achieve a classic tandoori flavour, This dish should be cooked in a tandoor oven.
2 If you don’t have one available, you can recreate the same authentic flavours by grilling or baking your fish tikka skewers on medium-high heat for about 8 minutes.
3 Once done, remove from the heat, serve hot and enjoy!
